    For fun...

I try to post on here every once in a while... and apparently "once in a while" in xanga translation means every few years instead of the Jerimiah Red translation that means every few weeks. Here are a few notes for note keeping's sake:

    How I've started 2012:
    New Job
    3/4's through my degree plan
My only debt is my school loans.
    Living at home
    Skit Writing/worship leading/teaching with youth
Music blogging for Predictably Me & New Music Monkey

How I plan to end 2012:
Have over half of my school loans paid off.
Still living at home (see above goal for explanation)
Add leading a girls group of Junior & Seniors to youth group activities.
Join the writing team for another blog or two.
    Writing consistently... practice makes perfect.

That's it! See you next year.

    Howdy

I wonder how often over the last few years i've had blog posts that are titled 'Howdy'... quite a few i imagine. But I'm not going to go through and look now am I? So that's really a supurflous question.

Anyway, I'm headed to Austin on Friday after work to see Rob Bell (not a musician but an author) I'm SO pumped! Do any of you read his books or watch his Nooma videos? They're great... lump is a personal favorite of mine.

Ok got to get back to work so i can go to lunch in a bit! Latazzzzz.

    Blogs

Hey everyone! I hope you're having a great Tuesday! Please pardon my exceptionally perky mood today, I can't really explain it and I hope it doesn't annoy any of you grim zombies chained to their desks...

Anyway, I was going over the 1000awesomethings blog and want to know what blogs y'all like reading? Any suggestions for what I should check out? I really love 1000awesomethings, postsecret, and futureme but that's about all I read, other than the occasional glance at awkwardfamilyphotos.com.

So in the name of actually blogging I'll say a bit about why I love each of those... It seems like I'm going on and on but I guess Twitter has made me a bit of an ADD blogger. And it's greatly hindered my creative writing since i've learned to condense and cut out verbal emotional expression and replace it with smiley/frown faces. No bueno...

    First off www.1000AwesomeThings.com
--- I don't know who he is. I probably don't want to know. But I most deffinetly have a crush on him. The writer of the 1000things blog is creative and funny and seems to generally have a positive outlook on life without that usual insesent peppiness that comes with the people born with a glass half full. It brightens my mood every single week day, because even if it's just being thankful for the rare "batteries included" purchases there is always something that deserves an aknowledging pause of Awesome.

    Next is www.PostSecret.com
--- This is a great idea and social project that has turned into a national phenominon. My only issue with it is the the nasty secrets that I would rather not know about being on there... but there are enough artistic and creative ones that make it worth going through. The new secrets post every Sunday but I always keep it for Monday morning. I think Monday really get's jipped due to it's coming after the weekend, so I give it what I can! I personally have never sent anything in. But it's on my life list of things to do. Not only to send one in but for it to be put on the website/book. And yes I have a life list... but that's a different blog.

    And last of all www.Futureme.org
--- Most would say that FutureMe isn't a blog. And in a way it's not, but that also means that in a way it is. I have sent many notes, letters and words advice to the future but have recived only one thus far. I don't think you can imagine what it's like to open your email and see a message from yourself that was sent specifically to you from years before. It's important to remember and realize the goals and dreams we had and have, and to take a look a good look at where our lives are going or staying, to know if we are happy or not about the big picure we're painting.
But the reason I list it as a favorite blog of mine is because many people release theirs to be seen by the public and you can go look through them. Some of them aren't really worth reading, but every now and then you really connect with one, and that makes it all worth it. I highly suggest you go through some of them, get inspired, and then write yourself one. If you create an account you can always go in and change you're email if you ever need to, how very practical of them. Also, the book is a great coffeetable read if you're ever looking for something a little different.

Let's try this again... for old times sake.

So I was going through my old posts the other night and decided to try posting on here for a while. Of course it can't replace facebook in general but there is something about the art of the blog that is lost on there. I don't want to have to tag people so they will read what I write... I don't want to know if they 'like' something by the click of a button... i want real live feedback and opinions.

So to quote OkGo and several other songs "Here we go, here we go agian..." What is going on in my life? Well I wont attempt to update on everything in the last few years, so I'll start with today.

It was nice and cold this morning... not miserably so thanks to my wonderfully soft fleece blanket, but cold enough to start feeling like the holidays. I didn't want to get out of bed so I spent some time on Twitter before getting out of bed. (side note: i love twitter. what do you think?) and then I got ready for my day... i've had a pretty light day here at work, but then again Fridays always are light for me. And drum roll please... MUTEMATH/AS TALL AS LIONS tonight!!!! I can't wait... it's one of those shows that you know is going to be great, and then you realize that a ton of your friends are going so it's going to be even better!

Anyway, maybe this will start xanga back up again, maybe not. Oh well, it's nice to check back in anyway! Better get back to work!

    Awkward...

    1. Eating spaghetti in front of people you don't know that well.

    2. When an acquaintance informs you that it's their birthday in the middle of a conversation.

    3. The first bite of an apple

    4. Bashing a band in a group of people who turn out to love that band.

    5. When someone walks out of a bathroom stall who didn't realize you were there when they thought they were only talking to their friend in the next stall.

I think i'm going to start a list of these... i'm open to suggestions.

  • My Scariest Nightmare - The Uninvited Contest

There was one house at the end of my street that scared me... and I would always end up running from the man that lived there and trying to get my little brothers to follow me but my legs were like lead and they wouldn't listen to me.

I just blogged about my scariest nightmare to enter The Uninvited Scariest Nightmare Contest for 1,000 credits. You can earn free credits too! Brought to you by The Uninvited - In Theaters January 30th.

    it's 2009 people

My break was good... it didn't feel like 2 weeks though. Oh well... I got a lot of reading time in so that was nice. Our land lord came and cleaned out our gutters, mowed our yard, cleaned the pool, and had the house leveled one morning so that took a lot off of our to do list. However, the exterminator that came out to check out our rat problem hasn't managed to get rid of our little friend. But hey... the one upside of having a rat in the kitchen is that it kept us from snacking too much on our break.

I got a really nice Kitchen-Aid mixer for christmas! I feel like such an adult! And I got a robe from anthropology, a nice coat from Macy's, onezy pajamas, makeup, etc. It was great.

Then I spent New Years Eve at the Anderson's house (they were at Moody Gardens) with my roommates Ashley, Audrey, and Katie. Hannah Achim came over too! And my little brothers (minus Garron, he was hanging out with madeline) spent the night there too since the Anderson's house is outside of Sugar Land's stupid firework ban. We made a "comfort food" meal that included fried chicken, home made mac n' cheese, mash potatos, rolls, chocolate chip cookies and more. Then we smoked hookah, lit fireworks, and watched Walk The Line. It was a good time.

Other than that I don't have much to say.

4 more days, 4 more days, 4 more days...

Just 4 more days and I have a few weeks off work! Woohoooo! Now if I can just survive a little longer 2008 has a good chance of ending without me killing myself (or anyone else for that matter). Modest Mouse has been helping me get by though... so real, so cynical, so funny... just what I need in a band right now.

"You tell me what you want, and I'll tell you what you get... you get away from me!" -MM

For our Maudikashey Christmas Dinner on Saturday (after Lights In The Heights) we went to Raven Grill. It was reallyyyy good! And then last night we gave our gifts. I got all of them these cool scented oils that they can add to lotion or creams etc. and I added a bottle of lotion in there for them to start. Plus I put some Reese's Peanutbutter cups and other goodies in the little Christmas buckets I got at Target. I ended up not wrapping them in paper or anything but using celo and tissue paper to make a sort of mini gift basket thing. I think they turned out well.

Ashley made us all shirts with Flight Of The Conchords lyrics in iron on letters. Ha they're pretty great! Mine says "Let's get in a cab... I'll buy you a kebab" Katie's says "Ain't no tea party like my nana's tea party" and Audrey's says "Beautiful... Like a tree" haha. Pretty good. I say she needs to make herself one and we call all put "Maudikashey" on the back with a team player number.

Audrey made us each a REALLY amazing piece of art work. Really I can't wait to hang mine up! I'll have to post a picture but for now you'll have to live with my description. It's a blue canvas with a the big Sufjan owl cut out of corkboard and colorful paisley and flower patterns cut out and decoupage along the bottom part. It looks really cool. Katie's has this cool vintage feel with some buttons and stuff and ashley's has splatter paint and corkboard with beatles lyrics in the background. Over all it's amazing.

Katie had a flat tire the other day so she had NO money to go shopping but she ended up going to her moms house and getting a bunch of beaded earing making stuff, and we all sat around and listened to our Sufjan and Rosie Thomas Christmas music, drank wassail and made our various trinkets. It was a lot of fun.

We then started our vintage Winnie The Pooh artwork puzzle that we will be working on over our holiday break. Ashley is a puzzle nazi by the way... don't ever do a puzzle with her.

So yeah... I'll keep you updated over the break. But now I need to go and figure out how I'm going to get the rest of the year's work done in a few days

    Xanga birthday!

Hey guys it's my 6th xanga birthday!!!

I don't know how interesting any of you might find that. But yeah, that's a long time. Xanga and I have come a long way together.

And as little life side note we're done with all of the christmas parties here at the university, so my life suddenly got less insane. Not much else to report... other than the fact that i need to get my christmas shopping done. But I'm not looking forward to hitting up the mall in the least.
